# Policies

**Scope**

Every subject in the [taxonomy](https://cccurj.org/category_taxonomy) and every [artifact type](https://cccurj.org/help/artifacts), from [eligible authors](https://cccurj.org/about#eligibility).

**Open peer review**

A managing editor handles each submission with at least two peer reviewers. Reports, reviewer names, author responses and decisions are published with the article. Revise-and-resubmit is a normal outcome, and every rejection gives a reason.

**Generative AI**

Authors disclose substantive use and stay responsible for their work. Reviewers must not upload manuscripts to external AI systems.

**Ethics**

We follow [COPE](https://publicationethics.org/). Work may be screened for similarity, and published work may be corrected or retracted. Appeals go to the editors by email.

**Schedule**

Articles are published on acceptance, in two volumes a year (January–June, July–December).

**Versions**

Each article is a specific version of a CCCURJ preprint; later versions do not change it.

**License**

Authors keep copyright; articles and reviews are [CC BY 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).

**Corrections and retractions**

Anyone can raise a concern with the [Report a concern](https://cccurj.org/about#report) link on a paper or by email. A managing editor looks into it with the authors, following COPE guidance, and may ask the Faculty Advisory Board for advice. The outcome is one of: no action; a **correction** for an honest error that does not change the conclusions; an **expression of concern** while an investigation is open; or a **retraction** when the findings cannot be relied on (for example fabricated data, serious error or plagiarism). Notices are dated, permanent and shown on the article and its preprint. Retracted articles stay online, clearly marked, so the record is never silently changed.

**Quality checks**

Managing editors rate every review privately and give reviewers feedback. Each volume, a member of the Faculty Advisory Board reads a sample of accepted articles and their reviews and advises the editors on any gaps; the board advises and does not change decisions. We publish the journal's [review statistics](https://cccurj.org/flagship/stats).
