For faculty
CCCURJ is run by California Community College students: students submit the papers, check the preprints, write the peer reviews and make every editorial decision. Faculty support them in three ways.
1. Mentor student authors
Encourage students with a capstone project, independent study or lab work to post it. Besides research articles, CCCURJ accepts literature reviews, replication studies, research notes, datasets, software and research in progress (artifact types), so a first project does not have to be finished to be shared. Help them with methods, writing and citation, and point them to formatting with LaTeX and the submission overview. No account is needed to mentor; if your help was substantial, the authors can name you in their acknowledgments.
2. Co-author
You can be a co-author when a qualifying community college student made a substantive contribution to the research and is the submitting author. Co-authors do not need an account; the student submits the work and lists you. Your paper is reviewed by students like any other.
3. Join the Faculty Advisory Board
The board gives the student editors academic and institutional guidance. It:
- Advises, assists and recommends. It does not run the journal or make editorial decisions, and it does not review papers.
- Spans colleges. As the board grows, no single college may hold a majority of its seats.
- Will manage its own membership. While the board is being formed, an admin reviews applications; once it is established, the board brings on new members itself.
- Protects continuity. If an editorial cohort cannot recruit successors, the board may place the journal in temporary dormancy and help revive it, without taking editorial control.

Roles for students only
Peer reviewers, preprint editors and managing editors are all students: learning to review and edit is part of what CCCURJ teaches. So faculty do not review papers, check preprints or decide on CCCURJ Flagship papers. Encourage your students to apply for these roles instead.
